About We're

Keep CRC.scot Moving | Plant Mechanic

A hands-on role with room to grow and take ownership

Location: Durris, Aberdeenshire

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

CRC.scot is a growing civil and environmental engineering business looking for a practical, capable mechanic to join our team and help keep our plant and vehicle fleet moving.

We’re are open-minded about your background and level of experience. You might already be an experienced plant mechanic, or currently work with agricultural machinery, HGVs, commercial vehicles or similar equipment and be ready for your next step.

What matters most is strong mechanical ability, a practical approach to fault finding and repairs, and the attitude to learn and take on more responsibility over time.

For the right person, we see this developing into a position where you take increasing responsibility for the management of our workshop and fleet maintenance.

The Role

Based primarily at our workshop in Durris, you’ll work across a varied, modern fleet including:

  • Around 15 items of heavy plant, mainly 5–24 tonne excavators, telehandlers and dumpers
  • Around 12 vans and pickups

No two days will necessarily look the same and we don't expect you to know everything from day one. Depending on your existing experience, you’ll be involved in:

  • Service, maintain and repair
  • Routine servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults
  • Carrying out repairs to plant, vans and pickups
  • Preparing and maintaining equipment to a high standard
  • Identifying parts required and working with suppliers
  • Keeping straightforward service and maintenance records
  • Helping operators with daily maintenance and basic repairs
  • Identifying potential problems before they result in unnecessary downtime

Where specialist knowledge or additional capacity is required, we already have a network of main dealers, plant service companies and local garages that we use for support.

As you get to know our fleet and build your experience, there is genuine scope to take greater ownership of maintenance planning, parts and stock, the workshop and service vehicle, and to advise management on fleet maintenance and improvements.

About You

You could be a great fit if you have hands-on mechanical experience with plant, agricultural machinery, HGVs, commercial vehicles or a similar mechanical environment. You don't necessarily need to have previously managed a workshop or fleet. We are more interested in finding someone who:

  • Is mechanically capable and enjoys diagnosing and fixing problems
  • Has a good practical understanding of servicing and maintenance
  • Takes pride in doing a job properly
  • Is reliable and organised
  • Can work independently but is also comfortable asking for support when needed
  • Is willing to learn and develop their skills
  • Is comfortable with basic computers, spreadsheets and digital records, or willing to learn
  • Communicates well with operators, suppliers and management
  • Has a full UK driving licence

Relevant qualifications are an advantage, but we would also consider someone who has developed strong practical skills through experience.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience and ability
  • A permanent, long-term position within a growing business
  • A work vehicle and fuel card
  • A modern and well-maintained fleet
  • A good workshop base at Durris
  • Variety across plant, vehicles and equipment
  • Training and development where appropriate
  • Increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence develop
  • The opportunity to ultimately take ownership of the workshop, service vehicle and day-to-day fleet maintenance
  • Support from external specialists and main dealers where required
  • A business where good ideas and improvements are encouraged

Our projects are mainly based throughout Aberdeenshire, although we do work elsewhere in Scotland, so some travel and occasional nights away will be required.

Interested?

If you are a practical mechanic who enjoys fixing machinery and would like a position where you can develop your skills and take on more responsibility over time, we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Don't be put off if you don't tick every box. If you have a strong mechanical background, a good attitude and think you could grow into the role, we'd like to hear from you.
