We're Hiring

Role
MTB Trail Builder
CRC.scot is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic MTB Trail Builder to help shape Scotland's next generation of mountain bike trails. This is a rewarding, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems on the ground and creating trails that riders will genuinely love to ride.

About We're

MTB Trail Builder - Build trails you'll actually want to ride.

Based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland | Full Time | Competitive Salary | Immediate Start Available

At CRC.scot, we design and build high-quality mountain bike trails across Scotland. From natural singletrack to bike parks and machine-built flow trails, we're passionate about creating sustainable trails that riders love and that stand the test of time.

We're looking for someone who loves working outdoors, enjoys solving problems on the ground, and takes pride in building great trails. If you're happiest with muddy boots, a rake in your hands or an excavator beneath you, we'd like to hear from you.

The Role

As an MTB Trail Builder, you'll be involved in every stage of trail construction. One day you could be shaping corners by hand, the next operating an excavator cutting fresh bench, or working with the team to fine-tune the line of a new section of trail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hand-building and finishing trails using rakes, McLeods, shovels and other trail tools.
  • Operating excavators and site dumpers during trail construction (pending training/experience).
  • Vegetation clearance and site preparation.
  • Building and shaping trail tread, berms, rollers, jumps and technical trail features.
  • Contributing to the micro-design of trails on the ground, making the most of the terrain while creating sustainable, fun and rewarding riding experiences.
  • Looking after tools, machinery and maintaining a safe, organised work site.
  • Supporting other CRC.scot construction and landscaping projects when required.

About You

You're practical, hardworking and enjoy being outside in all conditions. You take pride in doing things properly and understand that the details are what make a good trail a great one.

Ideally you'll have:

  • A passion for mountain biking and trail building.
  • Experience in trail building, landscaping, forestry, groundworks or civil engineering.
  • Experience operating excavators and/or site dumpers.
  • Good practical skills and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to work well within a small team.
  • A full UK driving licence.

The following would be an advantage:

  • CPCS or NPORS plant qualifications.
  • Chainsaw and/or brushcutter qualifications.
  • Outdoor First Aid.
  • Previous experience building mountain bike trails.

The Day to Day

Our workshop is based in Aberdeenshire, and much of our work is local. However, we also deliver projects across Scotland, and regular working away from home should be expected. Some projects will require staying away, typically Monday to Friday, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential.

This is a physically demanding job carried out in all weather conditions. In return, you'll get to spend your days outdoors, work with a passionate team, develop your skills, and help create trails that thousands of riders will enjoy.

Why Join CRC.scot?

We're a small, ambitious company that cares about building trails properly. We invest in good equipment, value everyone's input on site, and believe the best trails come from a team that rides, thinks and builds together.

If you're looking for more than just another construction job and want to help shape Scotland's next generation of mountain bike trails, we'd love to hear from you.
